Instead of focusing on "getting people to change behavior," let's focus on helping people understand their choices.
The short term solution is to change the behavior. And, that is important. Action is what makes the difference. BUT... The LONG TERM solution is to know what is behind the behavior and that has to do with CHOICE. If we are able to bring presence & awareness to the CHOICE, and learn how to choose differently, in a way that resonates with personal values, lifestyles and has meaning, then we can ELIMINATE THE URGE for unhealthy choices. When we can do that, we break the cycle and the BEHAVIOR we really want becomes a natural choice, instead of something we have to white knuckle through. Then, we are FREE from the URGE. And we can use our brain for more important things!
