3 things you can do WITH YOUR EYES CLOSED! for a Healthier Thanksgiving (and year)!

You might be scrambling to get things done today or hanging out with thousands of other people at the airport. Today, the day before Thanksgiving can be a hectic one. But, with these tiny shifts in perspective, you can come out Monday morning feeling pretty good about the holiday feast.

Here are three things you can do WITH YOUR EYES CLOSED! for a Healthier Thanksgiving (and life)!

1️⃣ Make it about relationships 🙋🏻‍♂️

Instead of focusing on the food and the alcohol, take a moment to think about who you want to be with the people who will be around you. We all have family dynamics. The question is, "Who do you want to be?" right in the middle of them? Be curious. What don't you know about your Grandma's life? (I bet it's a lot!).

2️⃣ EnJOY the FOOD! 🥗

Slow down. Savor the food. Smell it. Taste it. Slow the whole process down. Put your fork down between bites and really taste the food. EnJOY the ambiance. (Chances are when you do that, you eat less and feel better - no unbuttoning the pants for you)! And when you do this, you also have the opportunity to...

3️⃣ Listen to Your Body 👂🏻

We can get so caught up in the excitement that we lose ourselves. Go within and pay attention to the signals your body is giving you. Notice how full you are. We use a hunger scale from -10 to +10. The negative side is hungry & the positive side is full Keep yourself within the -3 to +3 range.

All of these tips are about being conscious and paying attention. It's easy to go tune out over the holidays. Families are awesome, and, let's face it, it can be stressful too. So, when you take the time to slow down and just be conscious and purposeful with your relationships - with people and with yourself - the entire experience is so much more fulfilling!

My hope is that this Thanksgiving is your best one yet!

Blessings to you and yours,

~traci
